We started HonestlyRanked because every other review site lied to us.
You know the feeling. You Google “best air fryer 2026” and the top ten results are basically the same article, written by different sites, ranking the same eight products in the same vague order, usually with a sentence that starts “this premium pick is perfect for foodies who value quality.”
Nobody bought it. Nobody tested it. Nobody has a kitchen. The only thing anyone tested was whether the affiliate link worked.
So we made this place.
What we actually do
We pick one narrow, specific, slightly unhinged category — “best office chair for people who sit sixteen hours pretending to work”, for example — and we rank real products in it. With real prices. With real pros and cons. With humor that wasn’t run through a corporate tone calibrator.
Every ranking has a winner, a runner-up, and at least one pick that exists only because the writer wanted to say something mean about it. That last one is usually the most fun to read.
How we pay for this
We use affiliate links. When you buy something through one of our recommendations, we get a small cut at no extra cost to you. That’s it. That’s the business model.
Here is what we don’t do:
- Take free samples in exchange for rankings
- Let brands sponsor a specific placement
- Rewrite a ranking because a manufacturer emailed us angrily (this has happened)
- Use AI to generate an article and slap a human name on it (we use AI to help us write, but a person with opinions always does the ranking)
If we ever rank a product we didn’t test ourselves, we say so at the top of the article. If a winner later gets worse — or a runner-up gets better — we update the article and note the change. It’s the same policy your favorite independent bookstore has: boring, predictable, and old-fashioned.
Who we are
A small team of writers, editors, and frankly too many group chats. We live across three time zones and share one Notion database. We are not media professionals. We have all, at some point, bought the wrong thing on Amazon at 2am and wanted to save you from our mistakes.
The founding editor used to work in tech support and is extremely annoyed by bad product copy. That’s most of the editorial stance, right there.
How to reach us
Love a ranking? Hate one? Know about a product we should test next? Send us a note. We read every email. We answer most of them. We occasionally include the best complaint in a future article, with permission.
For affiliate disclosure, editorial policy, and the legal small print, see our privacy policy.
Brutally honest. Accidentally helpful. Since 2026.
