how this data is collected, scored, and corrected

Collection

Our tracker visits every provider's public pricing page once per day and records, per plan: the advertised (introductory) price, the renewal price, the term length, and the currency. Historical points before our daily tracking began are backfilled from the Internet Archive's dated snapshots of the same pages. Every row is stored with its date and source. Prices are observed from a fixed vantage point; where providers geo-price, the recorded currency and region are stored with each snapshot.

The Fair Renewal Score

Scored purely on measured pricing behavior — never on commissions, features, or opinions. The score reflects the worst intro-to-renewal increase across a provider's plans:
