Your provider's renewal price is public, and we track it every day. Knowing the exact number — and the exact cheaper alternative — is essentially the whole negotiation. Here is how to do it in fifteen minutes.
Look your provider up on this site. The renewal figure is the one that matters, not the price you remember paying.
| provider | advertised | renews at | increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| IONOS | $1 | $14 | +1300% |
| GreenGeeks | $2.95 | $13.95 | +373% |
| SiteGround | $3.99 | $17.99 | +351% |
| Hostinger | $3.79 | $16.99 | +348% |
| SiteGround | $6.69 | $29.99 | +348% |
| SiteGround | $10.69 | $44.99 | +321% |
You need one specific competitor and one specific price, not a vague threat. Providers we track that don't raise renewal prices include: Private Internet Access, Windscribe, Mullvad, CyberGhost.
"My plan renews on [date] at [renewal price], which is [X]% above what I've been paying. I'd like to stay, but [competitor] is [price] for equivalent specs. Can you match or discount the renewal? If not, please confirm and I'll plan the migration."
Polite, specific, and it gives them a concrete decision to make. Use the billing or retention channel, not general support.
We measure published prices. We have no insider knowledge of what any retention team is authorised to offer, and we don't claim a success rate. What we can give you is the accurate number to negotiate against, which is more than most people walk in with.
Can you negotiate a hosting renewal price?
Often, yes. Retention teams exist precisely because cancellations cost more than discounts. The lever is knowing the exact renewal figure and a specific cheaper alternative before you ask.
When should I contact them?
Before the renewal charge lands — ideally one to two weeks out. After the charge, you are asking for a refund, which is a different and harder conversation.
What if they say no?
Then you have the switching information you gathered anyway. Several providers we track never raise renewal prices at all.
