We watched Norton's price every day for 17 days

an original measurement · one product, checked once daily

We recorded Norton 360 Deluxe's advertised first-year price every day for 17 days. It moved 8 times, alternating between $39.96 and $50.04 a year — and back again. Not a price cut, not a sale ending. The same product, quoted differently on different days.

Single daily observation of the public US product page from a fixed location. The renewal price stayed constant throughout at $125.04/yr.

What this is, and what it isn't

This is not a price increase, and we do not report it as one. Our change log separates genuine moves from this kind of oscillation, and Norton accounts for 21 of the variation entries we've recorded.

What it is worth knowing is simpler: there is no single "the price" for this product. Whatever figure you saw last week may not be the figure today, and a screenshot of a price is not a promise. The renewal rate, by contrast, did not move at all while we watched — which tells you which number the vendor treats as negotiable and which it does not.

Is anyone else doing this?

Not in our tracking. Over the same period, McAfee and Avast held their advertised prices steady, as did the hosting and VPN providers we watch — including NordVPN and SiteGround. Norton is the only provider on the site currently showing this pattern. Full comparison in our antivirus pricing guide.

Why we can see this at all

Because we check daily and keep every reading. A site that checks once a quarter and republishes the number would report whichever price it happened to catch, with total confidence. That is the argument for continuous measurement in one paragraph — see how we do it.

Quick answers

Does Norton change its price often?

In our tracking, yes — Norton 360 Deluxe's advertised price alternated 8 times over 17 consecutive days between $39.96 and $50.04 a year.

Is Norton's price different for different people?

Our measurements are consistent with A/B price testing — the same page quoting different figures on different days. We measure what the public page shows; we cannot see how any individual visitor is bucketed.

What should I do about it?

Check the price on the day you buy, and check the renewal figure too — that one has been stable in our tracking even while the first-year price moved.
